A New Start

It's been quite a while since I have posted to this blog, but thanks to those of you who have made comments either online or otherwise relating to the discussions and views here.

Actually the last few weeks have been rather fraught, with an extremely stressful settling-in period at our new home here in London. I have lost all faith in estate-agents as a species at the moment, and so I really need to meet some nice, honest, considerate ones to get a balanced view (on the big assumption that there are some nice ones out there, somewhere...)

The biggest encouragement to us has been the prayers of our friends. And not least in our search for a church home, which has led us to Abbey Road Baptist Church.

This church first came on our radar screens 2 years ago, because it's right next to Yuko's parents, and to that zebra crossing (think Japanese tourists with no socks on holding up traffic and you get the picture: if Sir Paul were dead, he'd be spinning... Actually, he lives around here, but that's another story.)

It's small (25-ish), and diverse (3 Scots, 3 Japanese, 3 Brazillian, 4 American, 1 Pole, 3 Slovaks, 3 English, 2 Filipinos, and maybe 3 or so others I'm not sure about at this morning's service.) The pastor is committed to the Bible and to prayer and evangelism, and there are midweek Bible study & prayer meetings. Right now the church meets in a hostel that they own, but from next summer we'll be moving back to the newly-renovated Abbey Road building: what a brilliant God-given location for reaching out in this part of London to our area and the world! It's exciting to consider the opportunities and the challenges involved.

So, that's where we are. Work begins for us both next week. "Work"? What's that....??
